Food bank of West Central Texas Hosts Senior Resource Day

The Food Bank of West Central Texas held its first Senior Resource Day on Thursday.

The event included information on local resources, including organizations offering healthcare services, housing assistance and more, was available as people came through the drive-thru food pantry.

Patrick Dembach, Director of Operations for the Food Bank, said they have been thinking about doing for years.

“We’ve always understood the problem faced by seniors, especially those who are homebound,” Demback said. “So, we’re hoping that this not only reaches people who can get out, but those who cannot get out may get assistance from friends, neighbors, family members, whomever, and so that’s what our goal is.”

The food bank serves Abilene and its regional counties providing food assistance to those in need.
